MK’s Concord Dawn

  • 2009 Bay OTTB Gelding
  • Bred by Tim and Janet Ritchey in PA
  • Owned by Bryce and Molly Kinnamon

MK’s Concord Dawn (aka Mason) was bred in PA by Tim and Janet Ritchey to be a racehorse, and he was backed by my brother in law Travis Kinnamon, before finding his way to our team through our awesome veterinarian, Dr. Kathy Anderson.

“My Long time right hand and working student Miss Hannah Metz was in need of a ride as her horse, Zhen, was resting after their CCI*.  Hannah brought Mason into MKE and helped him make the lifestyle change.  Hannah gave Mason what every OTTB needs, love and tender care… guidance and trail rides.  I think most of the success that Mason and I have had will always be due to his happy year he spent with Hannah learning the “good life” of a baby event horse.

Mason is the unique Thoroughbred that is gifted with talent and kindness.  His heart is as big as they come and he wants nothing more than to make his people happy and to be fed Lucky Charms.

2015 was a big year for Mason and me, winning several Novice level events and finishing the year at Training level.  The grand finale was winning the TIP (Thoroughbred Incentive Program) series hosted by Kathleen Crompton and Plantation Field Horse Trials.  This was such an exciting achievement as there are so many great TB’s and trainers in this area.   It was wonderful to see how Mason fared against the current crop of competitive horses who took part in TIP that year.

2017 finished with a big success at Mason’s first CCI*.  This horse will hopefully be in our program for a long time to come and we look forward to putting together an ownership group to enjoy the journey together.

Mason Receiving His Award at Plantation Amy Dragoo Photo

“Kathleen Crompton had a vision a year ago and from her idea and generosity along with the help of Denis Glaccum the TIP TB Challenge at Plantation Field was developed. I am so honored and thankful to be riding MK’s Concord Dawn. He is all class and this award means so much to myself, my husband and my team at MKE. There are so many great TB’s out there- I hope this program will encourage people to find these shining stars and develop them into their second careers. Thank you Tim and Janet Ritchey for helping source Mason into eventing as his second career.”

Molly would also like to thank her supporters and sponsors who have been involved throughout Mason’s retraining and development:  Phillip Dutton, Dr. Kathy Anderson, Steve Teichman, Cwd, Nunn finer, Charles Owen, Kerrits, Omega Alpha & Triple Crown!
